Lee Hsien Yang wishes his father a happy 94th birthday

If LKY was still alive, the Lee family will be having dinner at Lee Hsien Yang's home.

"Lee Hsien Yang posted on Facebook."

These six words would have struck fear in the hearts of local journalists this year, following the whole 38 Oxley Road Saga in June and July this year.

Because a new Facebook post from Lee Hsien Yang (LHY) means more reports, more articles and more work.

Today's special though.

LHY, the second son of the late Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, posted a 1999 photo on Facebook to inform his fans about his late father's birthday.

In his Facebook post, LHY broke his almost one month radio/Facebook silence to mention that the Lee family always celebrated LKY's birthday with dinner at his home.

The tradition was also highlighted by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong during their dad's cremation service in Mandai.

"Yang has made it a custom to host a family dinner at his home on our parents’ birthdays. On Pa’s 90th birthday, we had our usual cosy meal. I was taking pictures at the dinner table. Pa gave a radiant smile. I decided to soak in the moment and not grab my camera and scramble to capture the photo. So I do not have a photo but I have a memory that will be there forever."

The late Lee Kuan Yew would have been 94 this year.
