Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention at Marina Bay Sands

Singapore's version of the Comic-Con, this event is for people who cannot wait till Halloween to play dress-up.
In its 10th year, the Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention (STGCC) will feature renowned writers, illustrators, animators and artists, like Frank Cho (Liberty Meadows), Sonny Liew (The Art of Charlie Chan Hock Chye), and Kanzaki Hiro (Heroman).
More importantly, there'll be many opportunities to take selfies in your costume. Because we know that's what you're going there for anyway.
CharaExpo 2017 at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre
September 9 & 10, 10am to 6.35pm
Another event for Cosplay fans, the CharaExpo is like the STGCC, except it focuses only on Japanese content.
It will also feature trading card tournaments, and the opportunity to get autographs from these Japanese pro-wrestlers.
And you thought ligers didn't exist.

The Great Singapore Replay showcase at Clarke Quay Central
September 9, 4pm till late
This concert can make you feel old yet young. Nostalgic yet rejuvenated. Emotional yet inspired.
And very proud of the local music scene.
For the past 10 weeks, 10 up-and-coming musicians (like the ones in the video below) have been working with 10 established artists, including Charlie Lim, iNCH and Vandetta, to recreate 10 classic Singaporean hits.
They'll be performing their renditions of the songs at the showcase.If you don't go, it means you don't believe in supporting local. Which means you hate Singapore...
September 9, 7pm till late
This outdoor party is for people into hip hop, R&B and reggaeton.
In other words, people who like feeling super fly and #gangsta.
There'll be free tequila shots for the first 200 people who register themselves for it on their Facebook event page. And an after-party from 9pm at Blu Jaz Cafe.
No shisha though. Because, life.

For bookworms and board-game lovers, there is a street for you to walk this weekend.
Organised by the Book Council, a non-profit and charitable organisation, the three-day carnival features authors, literary art, board-games and giant bowling games (Book lovers like bowling? Huh?).
On Sunday, join other "gamers" for Boardgame Sunday. Register for free entry, say "I love Bookstreet by Book Council" and you get a Melon Ice-Blended at a special price of $3.90 (U.P. $6.90) at O'Coffee Club Xpress.
Social Impact Festival 2017 at the Singapore Management University's city campus
September 11 - 16, 10am to 9.30pm
Open to public, this week-long festival by SMU will feature workshops, dialogue sessions and activities by social enterprises, non-profit organisations, and other altruistic folk.
