It's in the wee hours of the morning at New York in the United States and one of Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan's first tasks is to surf Facebook and Twitter.
Was alerted to a piece of fake news circulating around the internet about me collapsing at the UN. I am fine in... https://t.co/uoGM30UGhp

And the reason for these posts?
The poor Foreign Minister woke up to this weird misinformation online.
Apparently, Global News reported that Singapore's foreign minister "collapsed" in the hallway of the United Nations (UN) Global Compact Leaders Summit 2017 and was sent to the hospital.
The site even quoted United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who said that Vivian is in a "critical condition in the hospital".
Not the first time the site got things wrong
It's not the first time Global News has created such misinformation.
Recently, it claimed that US President Donald J Trump had announced the end of the Visa Waiver Program for Singaporean passport holders.
United States Embassy in Singapore said that the news is fake.
Not sure? Just double check before sharing the rumours.
It's easy to double-check and conclude how wrong Global News is.
All you have to do is to follow the official Twitter account of the Permanent Mission of Singapore to the UN in New York, and you will notice how well Vivian is.

You can also double confirm with Burhan Gafoor, the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Singapore to the UN in New York.

Now that we all know that it's fake, one thing's for real.
A minister wakes up really early in the morning.
Or is woken up because a lot of people care about him.
