The new Bukit Panjang Integrated Transport Hub opened to much fanfare on Sept. 4.

It looks pretty new and comfortable as some of its key features include the use of lush greenery in its interior design, and the first ever WeCare shop where people can borrow power banks, umbrellas, and trolleys to make their commute on public transport a lot more convenient.

Enter the paper chase

Two days prior to the hub's Sept. 4 opening, SMRT announced that certificates would be distributed to the ones who are able to board the first bus, 973, out of the terminal.

Some otakus people, who are super passionate about our public transport were game enough and came down early to join regular commuters in boarding the bus at 5.30am.

And yes, they indeed got printed certificates.

Nice.

Some netizens weren't too supportive of the gesture, though.

Let's not discount the fact that some passengers on that ride were probably overjoyed. After all, it's not often that one gets a certificate that does not serve as an excuse for being late to work/school from a transport company these days.
