Team Singapore's synchronised swimmers Debbie Soh and Miya Yong bagged a second gold for Singapore at the SEA Games synchronised swimming duet technical routine on Friday, 18 August.
Our first gold, incidentally, was clinched by Soh in the solo routine a day earlier:

She came in second in the solo technical routine, while Yong clinched bronze in both solo routines for a 1-3 and 2-3 podium finish for the Singaporeans.
Particularly in the duet competition, Malaysia often dominates at the ASEAN meet, so the duo's victory is a historic one — especially because Malaysia sent in two teams for the event.
There were seven other competing teams in total: one each from the Philippines, Thailand, Brunei, Vietnam, and Indonesia, and two from Malaysia.

In a 30-second interview with media after they learned they had won the gold, Yong, 17, said:
"We are really happy that we managed to win this medal for Singapore, and we would really like to thank our coaches and the SSA for supporting us in our training."
Soh also said it meant a lot to them to be able to defeat Malaysia for the first time in the duet event.
"We were assessing their performance during training and noticed that they did quite well, so we made it our goal to do even better than our usual. Our coach agrees we did better than we had ever done before."
Minister for Social and Family development Tan Chuan-Jin was also in the thick of events there, joining them and reporters on the ground at the first event he attended upon arriving in KL:
