A father in Singapore is selling off his Star Wars collectibles in September next month at the upcoming Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention 2017 at Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre.

The man, Jeremy Sim, made known his plan in a Facebook post on Aug. 15, 2017:

Died of cancer

Sim wrote that he wanted to clear out his collection, which he had since young, so that he is able to keep the belongings of his late wife for memory's sake.

His late wife, Camella Fong, passed away this May after a short bout with cancer.

His story was related to The Asian Parent recently in July.

Couple have a son

Sim and Fong were married in December 2010. The couple's son was born in 2015.

Sim said the early part of his marriage was trying as he had to move to Malaysia after his wife was asked to return to help with her family's business, which minimised their time spent together.

They were colleagues before they started dating.

Fong was subsequently diagnosed with neuroendocrine metastasis cancer in July 2016.

Heartwrenching story

Sim's story struck a chord with many readers as he recounted the difficulty and anguish he still faces coping with his wife's illness initially and her eventual demise.

He said he still messages his wife these days in the hopes that she would reply, but conceded it was wishful thinking on his part.

The publication first reached out to Sim to document his story after he left a cryptic comment on one of the site's post:

“If my dearest wife was still around, she will tag me for sure. But now I am just a sad daddy and my life will never be complete again.”

Proceeds go towards charity

Sim wrote in his Facebook post that the Star Wars items on sale will be tagged with a minimum price.

Buyers can donate more than the price indicated.

All proceeds from the sale of Star Wars items will go towards the KKH Health Fund box.

Sim wrote that he is unable to accept money personally other than what is dropped into the collection box itself during the sale.
