Man goes berserk, trashes Balestier bak kut teh store, causes $5,000 in damages & flees with friends in cab

Crazy things happen after 2am.

Perhaps it's the tranquility of the night, the witching hour, or just alcohol.

This time, it was alcohol.

Staff at a bak kut teh shop located at 365 Balestier Road learned that the hard way in the wee hours of Saturday morning when a few drunk men entered, and started causing a scene.

According to details in a Facebook post by the shop, called Balestier Bak Kut Teh (Kin Lian), the man wearing a black T-shirt was upset after not getting immediate attention from the staff, and started throwing cutlery onto the floor.

He then got up, stomped into frame and knocked over a steamer, after first throwing a chair and flipping a table.

The description to the video adds that he and the men accompanying him, who initially appeared to be trying to restrain him, left the shop and hopped onto a blue Comfort taxi at about 2:41am.

Here's the full statement accompanying the shop's CCTV video of the incident:

"An unfortunate incident, causing losses of at least $5000 and damaged furnitures, had happen during the early morning of 19 August 2017 at 0237hrs.

Four drunken male, Local Chinese, aged 45-60, were seen alighting a TransCab taxi along the main road of Balestier Road before proceeding to our premise.

Subjects were greeted and attended promptly by Staff A, menu was presented and utensils were placed on their table.

Staff B then approached these subjects' table politely informing them that she will be back with the ordering device to place their orders.

Male A (black shirt) wanted immediate attention by throwing chopsticks towards the counter area.

Male B (white shirt) follow suit, with larger items thrown at our staff.

Male A & B approached the counter, throwing chairs, pushed the steamer, smashed the streamer and broke bowls.

Subjects were last seen boarding a blue ComfortDelGro Taxi along the main road of Balestier Road, cowardly fled the premise at 0241hrs.

They left behind a mess of damages accounting to at least $5000.

Physical damages can be fixed and replaced.

However, our staff were frighten and shaken to be terrorise in this manner.

We hope that the public will be able to assist our Police Force in identifying and report these four dangerous subjects.

The store is appealing for help in identifying the four men to the police, who have confirmed the case with Mothership and say they are investigating the case of Rash Act.

They have also provided a description of two of the men, whom they identified to have been involved in the violence and property damage:

  • Culprit A: Male aged 45 to 55. Dressed in Black T-Shirt and shorts. Serious hair problem. Full tattoo on right arm. Half upper tattoo on left arm. Tattoo on both legs
  • Culprit B: Male aged 45 to 55. Dressed in white collar long sleeves shirt with black shorts. Flat top hair style.
