For those who like their local art with a little spice.

Dan Wong, better known as Citizen Dan, is the Singaporean artist and voice behind the snarky, no-holds barred art of A Good Citizen.

If you don't already know who he is, you might have seen his work as part of our epic collaboration two years ago, during the 2015 General Election, throwing up stuff like this:

And also this:
Now, Citizen Dan has his very own exhibition coming up — it's aptly-titled SINGAWHORE, and will run from August 11 to September 3 in Chinatown.

SINGAWHORE will feature brand new art from Wong, who is known for having zero filter when it comes to depicting socio-political issues in Singapore.

As you might have already realised, the term "A Good Citizen" references the namesake of the civics and moral education textbooks used by primary school children, which were named 好公民 — literally translated, it means "a good citizen" in Mandarin.

Ironically, and also what makes his work so fun, Wong's tongue-in-cheek criticism and his colourful, unabashed views are exactly what a moral education textbook would shy away from.

Here are some of his more recent work, which you might recognise from recent events in Singapore:

If you'd like to meet Wong, he'll have a sharing session on the exhibition's opening evening, Aug 11, from 7pm to 9pm.

Entry is free to all visitors — you might even be able to snag some original (and very non-PC) artwork for yourself.
