Looks like it is going to be another busy week for the National Council of Churches Singapore (NCCS) and the Roman Catholic Church of Singapore.

This is so as the Yellow Ranger in the upcoming Power Rangers movie is gay, early reviews of the movie said.

The character of Trini the Yellow Ranger, played by the pop star and actor Becky G, is revealed in one scene to be having “girlfriend problems”.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the other heroes in the movie learn that the Yellow Ranger is coming to terms with her sexual orientation.

After one character assumed she's having "boyfriend problems," it becomes somewhat apparent that perhaps she's actually having "girlfriend problems."

The movie's director Dean Israelite, said it's a small moment but "pivotal" for the entire film.

HR wrote:

"For Trini, really she's questioning a lot about who she is," Israelite tells The Hollywood Reporter. "She hasn't fully figured it out yet. I think what's great about that scene and what that scene propels for the rest of the movie is, 'That's OK.' The movie is saying, 'That's OK,' and all of the kids have to own who they are and find their tribe."

Superheroes that are gay are currently not the norm.

The last time a superhero came out as a bit queer was Marvel’s antihero Deadpool, who identifies as pansexual.

This news about the Yellow Ranger comes shortly after the live-action version of Beauty And The Beast featured the character of LeFou as being gay.

This led to the issuing of statements by the NCCS and Roman Catholic Church of Singapore regarding the viewing of the movie.

The rating for Power Rangers is yet to be confirmed but the movie will be out on March 23.
