Turkish chef Nusret Gökçe, also known as "Salt Bae" (pictured above right), is officially the first viral food meme in 2017.

Gökçe has had his videos and photos plastered all over the Internet since breaking out online on Jan. 7, as that guy wearing a white deep scoop tee and Lennon-esque sunglasses, while slicing and salting pieces of steak sensually.

He is, in fact, the co-owner of a chain of six steakhouses in his native Turkey, as well as in Dubai, named Nusr-Et (which is named after himself), having started out as a butcher's apprentice at the age of 16.
