A driver was arrested on Saturday after the police were alerted to an incident at the junction of Woodlands Avenue 1 and Woodlands Avenue 2 at 7.06am.

The BMW was parked at a traffic junction and did not move despite other cars sounding their horns after the traffic light changed several times, according to Lianhe Wanbao.

The driver had allegedly fallen asleep in the car.

As the driver did not respond even after a motorist tapped on his car, the police were called.

One of the police officers managed to wake the driver after knocking loudly on the car window.

Startled, the driver accelerated and drove onto the wrong side of the road even as a police officer tried to block its path.

The police said a 29-year-old man was arrested for suspected drink driving.

This is the latest in a spate of incidents where vehicles have been caught on camera driving against the flow of traffic in Singapore.
