Elderly lady's vintage jewellery home business listed on Carousell with a little help from her new friend

She was unable to afford the higher rent for her old shop space.

It's a sad story that's regrettably becoming more and more common these days: elderly small-time business owner gets pushed out of mall space after rents rise beyond what they can afford; pretty much goes out of business.

Lucia's is no different, having operated a shop selling a host of vintage trinkets, ornaments, statues and furniture. After losing her store space to hiked rent, she brought everything home to Spottiswoode Park Road in Tanjong Pagar.

Currently, she can only sell her products to guests by appointment as she cannot use her home as a store.

But here's a little boost for her products:

One lady, Koh Kai Xin, came across Lucia's place and posted some pictures of the things she is selling to Facebook.

She also helped Lucia get onto Carousell, and started listing a few of her items for sale on it in order to help get the word out.

Here's Lucia's Carousell page:

Koh also left a helpful testimonial for her to start with as well.

And in gratitude for helping her out, Lucia and her friend cooked up a delightful-looking dinner of pickled cabbage soup and dumplings for Koh:

It looks like Lucia hasn't been able to add more items to her account since that night Koh got her started on it, but if you wish to check out the full range of her vintage collection, do drop her a message on Carousell and set up an appointment.

According to listings on her profile, she's open daily from noon to 5pm, at No. 5, Spottiswoode Park Road -- on this stretch of heritage residences:

Happy vintage item hunting — don't say bojio.
