Tuesday, October 4 is World Animal Day.
And just in time, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) responded to an urgent rescue call -- for a kitten who had fallen out of a 12th storey window and onto a ledge.
An eagle-eyed resident staying in the block opposite, at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3, was the one who made the call. Two neighbourhood police officers were also at the scene when the SPCA officer, Yao Huang, arrived.
Here's how it all went down:
1. Using a loop attached to a pole, Yao attempted to encircle the kitten's neck.
The kitten, naturally, went "NUU WHATCHU DOIN" and ducked out of it right away.
2. Yao continued trying, until the kitten backed itself up against a corner.
3. You can't run now, kitty!
4. Success!
"Nuuuuuokay."
5. Then began the scary hoist:
*clings for dear life*
6. It's the final stretch!
"Eeeeeek!"
Watch the video here to see how it ended (spoiler: it went well yay phew):
Happy World Animal Day, and please, if you happen to own a cat or other curious and mobile animal in your home, mesh your windows so they can't accidentally climb out!
