SDP's 'Pappy Washing Powder' video idea borrowed from M'sian political party video made in 2013

An irreverent 76-second video by the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP), titled “Pappy Washing Powder”, has been ruled by the Media Development Authority (MDA) as a party political film, which is prohibited under the Films Act.

However, the MDA will not be taking further action.

And it turns out the SDP video is not entirely original.

A previous political video made in 2013 by the Democratic Action Party in Malaysia had featured a similar idea of using washing detergent to make a point about accountability and incorruptibility.
