Dieting is hard. That shit just got harder when you are in Singapore. We know the struggles because we struggle too.

Singapore is such a food paradise that we waste so much food. According to a video by the Singapore Environment Council, people in Singapore wasted almost 800,000 tonnes of food in 2013. That's a meal a day for every person for an entire year.

Never getting into shape

Anyway, here are 10 Struggles of dieting while living in Singapore:

#1. You always go to sleep pumped to wake up for a morning workout. However, no matter how advanced your iPhone 6 is, the alarms can’t seem to wake you up.

Alarms

The allure of your King Koil or Sealy or whatever brand bed is way too strong.

#2. You have a picture of a fit model with an inspirational quote as your wallpaper but your phone is quickly invaded by a text from your friend, asking you out to eat.

everyday is an opportunity

FOOD IS WHAT WE DO ALL DAY ERR' DAY.

oh my god, food! FOOD!

#3. You fill your Insta feed with photos with the hashtags #fitspo and #eatclean. However, you can’t stop your friends from posting pictures of their #foodporn as well.

#4. You attempt to walk to places as an effort to lose weight. We know you tried but why is it either always too hot or raining in Singapore?

Also, how can we resist taking buses when there are bus stops at everywhere.

#5. You enjoy shopping and looking out for healthy food but why are they so goddamn expensive. How are we supposed to sustain this lifestyle while still being able to buy clothes and have a social life?!?!?!?

just poor

#6. Living in a city known as a food paradise is great but it ain’t great when you are spammed with temptations constantly!

food everywhere

Even our 7-11 serves good microwave food.

#7. Our nights are not only filled with parties, they are also filled with food places still open after 12AM. It’s practically luring us to go round the clock.

cannot stop eating

#8. Asian parents and grandparents are known for lovingly stuffing their children with food.

They do not take no for an answer and will tell you: “You are so skinny, you need to eat more to grow.” We always act like we are being forced to eat. However, let’s be serious, who can say no to heartwarming home-cooked food.

#9. You really want to workout but you tell yourself you are too tired after a whole day of work and being squeezed on the public transport.

do nothing

It’s a legitimate reason (at least I think).

#10. You have succeeded in eating healthy for the whole day. However, as you are about to go to sleep, the hunger pangs develop.

mouth full

So, you devour all the snacks that you have stocked up in case you got hungry. This is the consequence of being Kiasu.

crying then eating

Why is dieting so hard? Oh well, time to grab some food to cheer myself up.
