The Boon Tat murder came as quite a shock to Singaporeans.

Because you don't really see a stabbing in broad daylight all that often.

69-year-old Tan Nam Seng, Bruce, the man who stabbed the victim, then allegedly told onlookers that the fatally injured victim was his son-in-law, and stopped them from rendering assistance.

Shin Min Daily News (SMDN) delved even deeper into the story.

Citing insider sources, the Chinese evening daily revealed more information behind the case.

According to unnamed sources who told SMDN, the victim, 38-year-old Spencer Tuppani, had married his wife Chen Qing Qing, who was the elderly man's daughter in 2004.

That marriage produced 3 children, 2 boys and a girl.

However 3 years ago, he allegedly sought a divorce from her, though the divorce however doesn't seem to have been finalised

He also began seeing a 30-year-old "pretty mother", who he was apparently providing for, by taking her out to high end restaurants, as well as paying for her rent.

Tuppiani was apparently quite open about the relationship, posting regular updates on his social media.

Tan has been charged with murder.
