A video streaming site mobile app has launched in Singapore.

Called Viu, it offers both current and completed titles from Korea, Japan, and Hong Kong. The programs come in varying genres, such as drama series, variety, and lifestyle.

Most importantly, they offer it for free.

Selected shows, such as the more popular ones, will come with English and Chinese subtitles.

Videos are clear and lag-free, but playback is often hindered by ads.

Register as a Viu member for free through Facebook or email to enjoy functions like notifications, offline viewing, bookmarking, and the ability to save viewing progress.

You can also sign up for a premium account (currently priced at S$5.98/month) to enable more features, such as priority viewing (as fast as eight hours after telecast), limited ads, and unlimited downloads (as opposed to streaming online).

However, do note that some series may be missing episodes due to content licensing rights.
