There's a video and we're too scared to watch it.

If horror stories (especially local ones) are your cup of tea, @thetruedia's story on Twitter will have you scrolling non-stop.

Spanning about 100 tweets, she tells the tale of the hauntings that started in her house after her family employed a domestic helper.

Here it goes (summary below, after the Twitter thread):

If you didn't manage to finish the thread, here's a shortened version of the events:

It started with a call

The incident took place 2-3 months ago, when the family first got a domestic helper from Indonesia. The helper’s behaviour was noted to be erratic and unpredictable.

When the helper said that she missed her family, @thetruedia (known as Dia from now on) encouraged her to call them. She declined at first, but changed her mind the next morning.

For some reason, the helper decided to pass Dia the phone first. The helper’s neighbour had answered the phone, and Dia asked for the helper’s husband.

The neighbour revealed that the helper had no husband, and her parents had died 10 years ago.

Dia passed the phone back to the helper, who ended the call with no comments. She then left the room without speaking.

Then things got even weirder

Weeks later, the helper refused to eat and talk, and kept switching off their wifi (lol).

The only person she willingly spoke to was Dia’s father, and she did not respond to Dia’s mother. She ate rice, salt, and garlic once a week.

She would also ask Dia repeatedly if she wanted to eat, even as late as 3am in the morning when Dia had just come back from clubbing. When her offers were rejected, the helper would get upset.

Dia’s theory is that she’s the weakest link (as a non-practicing Muslim), and would be the easiest to place black magic on.

Another week later, Dia had gone to sleep around 5am. She woke up when she felt someone watching her.

She sat up to find a pair of red eyes staring at her from the door - a door that was previously closed.

Dia went “ma, stop being creepy!” and laid back down, even as she could hear her mother’s snores from another room.

When she looked at the doorway for the second time, the pair of red eyes was now staring at her from the foot of her bed.

It left when Dia told it to. She saw black hair as it walked out of her room.

Dia remained unbothered by the above incidents (we're amazed too).

Black magic

A while later, Dia had her period.

On the fifth day, Dia come home late to a musty smell in the kitchen. When she located the source, she found her helper squatting with a bag of her used pads in the toilet.

When Dia went “WHAT ARE YOU DOING???”, the helper only laughed and asked her if she wanted to eat.

She then called for her mother, who took the pads from the helper and threw it away. The helper did not answer any of their questions.

Eventually, the mother-daughter pair gave up and went back to sleep. The next morning, they demanded to see their helper’s belongings to make sure she hadn’t taken anything else.

They found Dia’s hair in an envelope, along with a cut up picture of her parents.

They invited an Imam (someone in an Islamic leadership position), who told them that there was no ghost present.

The rest of the family wanted to send the helper home, but the father insisted that she stayed on until Hari Raya at the very least.

The helper then slept over at Dia’s aunt’s house when the family went overseas, and the same thing happened - refusing to speak to anyone but the aunt’s husband, eating only rice and salt, and some other weird behaviours.

They didn’t think too much of the incidents, and the helper moved back in with them when they came back from overseas.

On one of the puasa days, the family went home to the helper frying 28 pieces of chicken for no cause (she doesn’t cook for them).

She refused to answer who the chicken was for.

They passed most of the chicken to the security guard, and left three pieces for the helper.

Three days later, when they wanted to bake kueh cornflake, they found the same three pieces of chicken in the oven, crawling with maggots.

They finally sent the helper packing.

But it didn’t end

As recently as three weeks ago, Dia’s sister captured a white figure outside Dia’s bedroom window. (screenshot above). Their mother was also getting migraines and and couldn’t sleep well, because she felt someone sitting on her.

Two weeks ago, Dia was recording a vlog when she realised there was a sound that didn’t belong to anyone (video above, the one we were too chicken to watch).

She ended by saying they treated the helper well.
