Jeffrey Chee posted a listing to sell off his Mercedes on Mudah.my, which is an online marketplace based in Malaysia. The site sells anything from textbooks to properties.

However, as with all online platforms, scammers are in abundance.

When Chee encountered one scammer who tried to cheat him of almost S$500, he demonstrated the best way to deal with it.

Long story short: The scammer pretended to transfer the amount need to purchase the car (around S$93,000) and wanted Chee to send him RM$1,500 (S$482) as an "activation fee", or the money would not reach Chee's account.

Chee, who already knew that the buyer was out to scam him, showed him stacks of hell notes being burnt -- to which the scammer replied "what's this" and "receipt pls".

Only when Chee sent a picture of paper cars being burnt did the scammer turn aggressive, and accused Chee of being a scammer.
