Yishun wall removed

Build a moat instead.

The metre-high Yishun wall made from scrap wood placed at the corridor to keep out a harassing neighbour, has been removed.

Nee Soon Town Council ordered the barrier removed from the sixth-floor corridor of Block 112, Yishun Ring Road as it is a fire hazard.

The wall was a nifty device. It had a latch on the inside so the residents who built it could let themselves out. It was lined with cactus plants on the top so that the offending neighbour could not reach around to unlatch it from the outside.

It also proved effective as the harassing neighbour could not get close to the doors of the flats where she had allegedly been pouring soy sauce and urine, among other liquids and debris she left outside their corridor.

However, the wall is not going away any time soon. It will not be dismantled yet as the residents are still wary of the harassing neighbour.

A 63-year-old woman was arrested by police on May 27 for causing public nuisance and she is out on bail.

She is alleged to have harassed multiple residents since last December, although residents claim the harassment has been ongoing for more than two years.

Affected residents told The Straits Times loud banging noises are still coming from the woman's flat, even in the wee hours of the morning.
