It's been a long wait, but we finally have an update on the saga that exploded when a man and a woman lashed out at an older man over the real estate... of a table in a hawker centre in Toa Payoh Lorong 8.

45-year-old Chow Chuin Yee, and his wife, Tay Puay Leng, 38, were on Thursday, June 15 charged in court with causing a public nuisance after they were caught on video verbally abusing and then pushing over an elderly man who was hoping to share a round table with them.

Chow, reports local media, is accused of using criminal force by using his body to forcefully barge against Ng Ai Hua, the elderly man, as well as for behaving in a disorderly fashion when he pushed some bowls and plates off the table and onto the ground.

In case you need to refresh your memory:

Tay is charged with using abusive words on Ng with the intent to cause alarm. As we saw in this part of the video:

The couple was found to be working at a tuition centre called Novel Learning Centre, with Chow as director and shareholder, and Tay as a mathematics teacher there.

At the height of the saga, and on April 25, when the couple was arrested, Ng's daughter spoke out against the couple's behaviour, urging a more courteous society.

According to media reports, the couple has engaged a lawyer, who asked for time to make representations. They have not entered a plea yet. They'll be back in court on July 12, and if convicted of causing public nuisance, can be fined up to $1,000.
