On Monday, June 12, Messi posted a photo of himself and fiancée Antonella Roccuzzo on holiday in Ibiza.

The photo uploaded on his Instagram account is captioned “vacation!” in Spanish.

Media outlets in Europe published pictures of Messi vacationing with his sons, joined by club-mate Luis Suarez, Chelsea FC star Cesc Fabregas, and their families on the Spanish island.

Messi touched down in Singapore briefly on Saturday, June 10, made a quick stop at Fullerton Hotel with the team, before flying back to Spain.

The rest of his teammates will be playing in the Singapore vs Argentina match, sans the services of other high profile players such as Gonzalo Higuain and defender Nicolas Otamendi.

An Argentinian newspaper had earlier reported last Thursday, June 8, that Messi would be missing the Singapore fixture to prepare for his wedding on June 30.

Argentina, ranked number two in the world, will take on 157th rank Singapore at the National Stadium as part of the Football Association of Singapore’s (FAS) 125th anniversary celebrations.

Match organisers UNICESS had initially marketed the match by touting the likes of Messi and Higuain playing against Singapore. However, they have said no refunds will be given after the no-show by the big names were confirmed.
