Gucci's new sneakers look like school shoes that haven't been washed in weeks

Most of us would have heard of Gucci, which is a very upscale Italian fashion brand.

Having captured the imagination of haute couture fans for decades, it certainly exercises a significant influence on the fashion industry.

Here's their latest pair of sneakers that is part of their 2018 Cruise collection:

That's right, they are following hot on the heels of the trend of "making normal stuff look become unnecessarily expensive" — this time, it's with our beloved school shoes.

School shoes that have probably been through a few weeks (maybe months) of rough-housing and soccer games, that is.

Back then, when we couldn't get them clean enough for the new school week or term, some of us bathed our pair in shoe whitener. Others, upon finding themselves in imminent danger of disciplinary action, used correction fluid on their shoes out of desperation too.

Guess kids won't be needing all of that now — since you could probably pair it with fashionable clothes and still look cool, as two models have demonstrated on Gucci's runway show.

So why not ditch your expensive sneakers, and dig out your dirty school kicks?

Because hey, it's a statement.
