5 types of workers so hardworking their job titles don't do justice

If you’re working as any of these, kudos to you.

If we could give Kopi stall owners a new job title, it’d be “Rejuvenating Elixir Creator”, for without them, some of us would regress to zombies at work every day.

Oftentimes, we tend to forget the individuals who make our lives better, like the aforementioned Kopi maker, or the cleaning attendant who ensures the washroom is in pristine condition 24/7.

But before all this gets too heavy, let’s just quickly remind ourselves to appreciate the hard work of those around us.

And of course, pat yourself on the back for getting through another work day, and for being able to earn enough money to read the following listicle on your smartphone (which by the way, is about people who are hard workers).

1. Lecturer

The ratio is 1 professor : 100 students (Above image is for illustration purposes only)

Some of us called them profs, while some of us lovingly referred to them as “chers”. Whatever titles we bestowed upon them, lecturers will always hold a special place in our hearts for playing such an important role throughout our poly/university days.

When we were relaxing during the long semester breaks, they were grading papers after papers, making sure each of us understood the syllabus to the best of their teaching.

Now imagine that, multiplied by hundreds of students -- sheer dedication right there.

2. Artist Manager

A literal support from the back

Behind every successful artist is a manager handling all the planning and logistical stuff. Remember that concert you attended during your teenage years which left an indelible impression on you?

A lot of the effort that went into making that concert happen was most likely the result of the artist manager’s hard work.

Like secret superstars, artist managers organise everything from booking concert venues to planning setlists. Watching a production is almost like watching the artist manager’s months of blood, sweat, and tears come to life.

3. Nurse Practitioner

“Haalpp.. My arm aches.”

Speaking of blood, a lot of us feel squeamish at the sight of it, but someone’s gotta brave it out and take one for the team.

In this case, the team takers are nurse practitioners.

Seriously, somebody should give a medal to nurse practitioners for all the things they do; diagnosing conditions, providing treatments, and sometimes, even helping patients shower.

4. Photojournalist

And aka walking human hanger

The double word job title of “Photojournalist” is a dead giveaway -- photographer + journalist.

Probably the most underrated role in the newsroom, photojournalists not only have to shoot news stories, they have to write the occasional article too.

And with the proliferation of video content, shooting videos has now become part of the job scope. Which means more cameras and equipment to carry. Which means they also end up looking like walking studios.

5. Entrepreneur

Congratulations, it’s a… restaurant!

Like nurturing parents, entrepreneurs treat their businesses as their newborn babies. They are the doting parents who devote all their time and energy to raising a business from its infant stages to its adult stages.

Yes, even businesses have to adult.

And once a business grows into a full blown enterprise, that’s when things get real. Just like granting a child independence and freedom, entrepreneurs eventually have to delegate work to their staff, and transition from scrutinising every aspect to overseeing every aspect.
