Adam West, the original Batman from the 1960's live-action television series, passed away Friday night in Los Angeles after a short battle with leukaemia. He was 88.
Most of us may have been born after the golden era of Batman on TV, but thanks to the internet, geekery, pop-culture, West never really left the impressions of generations to come, for better or for worse.
Some critics may see his career as being overshadowed by his one role in Batman; West pretty much made a career out of cameos and parodies, but he made the best out of it.
Here are a few things we'll miss about West:
1) The eye-conic drawn-on brows
Sure, George Clooney had to deal with nipples on his bat suit, but this guy here was rocking those white brows on the cowl like they were second-nature.
Or shall we say, his eyebrows were on fleek.
2) How he embraced the show's campiness
For a show straight out of the 60's, forget CGI or high-definition quality, or even epic cinematographic sequences.
The show didn't need realistic bone-crushing effects, so long there was the "wham!" and the "pow!"
All of that, combined with West's dedication to his role made it even more endearing.
3) Those puns
In case you were wondering, it was in reference to this scene:
4) That cheesy but memorable Batusi dance.
5) The famous bomb scene
Because in the 60's, only Batman had the knowledge of how to properly defuse a bomb (or lack thereof), by running around in the open.
6) This exaggerated cameo that made Johnny Bravo look tame
We know Johnny Bravo's a little too vain for his own good - but if he pales to the coolness (and craziness) of Adam West in this episode, you know who's boss.
7) His hilarious and crazy role as Mayor Adam West in Family Guy
Boy, was his role as Mayor Adam West a pretty memorable one. He's voiced every single appearance of the character to date, as such the current fate of the Mayor is unknown as the series is ongoing.
Ironically, even though he was playing himself, his character would actually bear more semblance to Clint Eastwood's and Martin Sheen's political career. With a little bit more crazy in it.
8) Dissing the newer Batman movies as himself inThe Simpsons
That's right, Batman back in the day was 100% "pure West". Ben Affleck and Christian Bale must have had high standards to live up to.
9) Voicing parodies of himself in newer cartoons
Perfecting the art of self-parody, West reappeared for voice roles such as a younger Mermaid Man in one of the episodes of Spongebob Squarepants.
He was also the voice of Catman for The Fairly Odd Parents for two seasons - both characters poking fun at the idea of an ageing vigilante.
10) Being everyone's kind and gentle superhero
In a world where crime and evil flourished in wicked ways we cannot imagine, the real superhero ability he had? His wonderful nature.

Gotham City has lost a legend. Adam West was every bit as gracious and loving in person as you'd expect. @therealadamwest
