Lately, Singapore seems to have become a hotbed for scams - and the latest scammers in town are trying to steal personal information by pretending to be from Singapore Airlines.

Targets will receive a call or email informing them that they have won air tickets or been selected for a lucky draw, followed by a request for personal information.

The callers are even able to modify their caller IDs to SIA's official telephone numbers.

SIA has released a statement on their Facebook page regarding the scam:

Other phishing methods in this scam include fraudulent websites like this:

If in doubt, you can reach SIA here to verify the authenticity of such deals.

The airlines have also advised its customers not to key in their KrisFlyer login details anywhere other than http://www.singaporeair.com, and customers who have done so should change their KrisFlyer PIN immediately.

For more information, visit SIA's page.

As a general rule of thumb, if a deal is too good to be true, it usually is.
