Here's what S$13++ 'Fish & Chips' looks like at MBFC LeVeL33 restaurant

Someone was clearly baited into ordering it.

*Editor's note at 6pm: We have updated the article to reflect the correct price of $13++ for LeVel33's "Fish & Chips". We have also updated the article with LeVel33's comments on the issue.*

Usually when we say fish and chips, this comes to mind:

Something that involves a slab of fish fillet coated with batter and (hopefully) a generous serving of chips. Purists would balk at an additional side of greens, but you get the general idea:

Therefore it came as quite a surprise to Facebook user Jaze Phua when his came looking nothing like anyone imagined:

So, I happily ordered "Fish and Chips" at Level33 in MBFC. At first, I thought this is just the appetizer. Turns out this is the SGD$17.50 dish. I almost died from laughing with internal-organs-explosion. It's like buying a Car and instead they give you the toy car for the same price.#ShouldHaveLookedOutForWhiteBaitInTheMenu

This expectations-meet-reality incident occured at LeVel33 -- a restaurant/ lounge/ brewery located at the top of Marina Bay Financial Centre (MBFC), a place known for its gorgeous views, but maybe not so much for its fish and chips (which cost S$13++ - a reasonable price, for real fish and chips that is).

To be fair, the menu stated that the "Fish" in "Fish & Chips" were whitebait -- immature fish, usually about two inches long, and Jaze himself acknowledged that in a comment.

However, at least the Internet managed to squeeze out some hilarity from it:

Yea bro, atas dining can be 'scarier den "yishun"'.

In response to the ongoing reaction to their "Fish & Chips" dish, LeVel33 said:

We are very sorry to hear that the Fish & Chips dish (SGD13++) from our Beer Dining Menu, a great finger food snack that pairs well with the freshly brewed craft beers, did not meet a recent diner's expectation. Our entire menu is an interpretation of our Chef’s creativity and our diners’ feedback. The menu is a constant evolution to keep it relevant and interesting. We thank our diners for their remarks and their support in delivering a great dining experience at LeVeL33.
