6 S'porean-flavoured cakes that S'poreans have not complained about on social media yet

We see these pretty often these days — typically-Western-style cakes made from local ingredients fashioned into iterations that differ from their traditional presentation — that it's almost becoming common.

Local bakeries and cafés often strive to be adventurous in doing this, but may not always pull their attempts off as well as they might hope. So we trawled reviews online to share this selection of 6 tried-and-tested yummy ones:

1. Ondeh Ondeh Cake

The picture literally says it all. $8.80+ per slice

Other popular flavours from them include Earl Grey Lavender, Thai Milk Tea, and Salted Caramel Chocolate.

Flavours are on rotation, so best to check before going.

2. Pulut Hitam Cake

Vanilla sponge, pulut hitam (black glutinous rice) mousse, pulut hitam bits, and pulut hitam topping. $3 per slice.

3. Orh Nee (Yam Paste) Cake

Vanilla sponge, yam filling, coconut cream, ginko nut, and toasted coconut flakes. $6.50 per slice.

They have Pulut Hitam tarts and Ondeh Ondeh cakes too.

4. Salted Egg Yolk Custard Cupcake

Salted egg yolk custard topped with buttercream. $4.50 per cupcake.

Only available on certain days - check before heading down.

5. Putri Salat Cupcake

The original Putri Salat is a double-layered kueh made with steamed glutinous rice, pandan custard and coconut cream.

The cupcake version by Fluff Bakery is made with pandan cake, pandan custard and coconut, and topped with Pulut (sticky rice). $4 per cupcake.

Again, flavours are on rotation. You know the drill.

6. Chendol Cake
