Caucasian man reviews Singapore army combat rations, makes it sound damn shiok

Not bad what.

Steve1989 is a YouTuber who does reviews on army combat rations from all over the world.

He is quite popular, amassing nearly 300,000 subscribers, and over 115 videos.

Some of his most popular reviews include a 24-hour Russian mountain ration:

And a Thai army ration.

Recently, he turned his attention to a more familiar combat ration pack:

That's right, he reviewed ours.

How did it hold up in the eyes of an expert on combat rations?

Here's how.

First he arranges everything in a lunch platter.

Then he tries out the food pack, oriental macaroni chicken.

He notes that the macaroni chicken has an overwhelming smell of oyster sauce.

Despite that proclamation, he still bravely spoons himself a hearty portion of it.

This is his review:

"It tastes better than it smells."

Which sounds about right.

The Pocari Sweat sachet was deemed light, sweet, but salty.

He also noted it had more electrolytes than a regular Gatorade, or Powerade.

Perhaps the highest praise, though, was saved for the ordinarily much-maligned fruit bar.

Personally, I never touched the stuff because it usually leads to aggressive bowel movements, which are never welcome during outfield training.

But he obviously saw some redeeming points in it:

"It's almost like a very dry, almost stale, outer cookie but with a very tender, chewy, sweet, and delicious date feeling, that really makes up for the weird outer filling part.

Yeah, that right there is really good."

Fu-yo.

The chocolate biscuit was also reviewed positively, with Steve commenting favourably on the lightness of taste, and how well it went with the similarly light Pocari drink.

He also vocalised the problem most people had with the Mentos.

"If it gets too hot out, they will liquify."

(Yes!)

Overall, he called the meal "on point".

Which is probably the first time anyone in the world has described it as such.
