Thanks to an eagle-eyed resident, that didn't happen.

A waste disposal truck almost drove off with a dead body on top of it at a Tampines estate on Tuesday morning (March 21).

According to a report in Lianhe Zaobao (report in Mandarin), the incident occurred at Block 450F Tampines Street 42:

An eyewitness surnamed Wu, a resident of the block, said he heard a loud noise coming from downstairs. When he looked out his window, Wu saw the body of a man lying on top of a waste disposal truck, with a pool of blood at his head. It appeared that the man had fallen from height, reported Zaobao.

By the time he ran downstairs to investigate, Wu found that the truck had already driven off towards Block 450G, about 50m away. Apparently, the waste disposal truck driver did not realise that a man had crash-landed onto the roof of his vehicle.

When Wu caught up with the driver and told him about the body, the driver was visibly shaken, repeatedly saying he had nothing to do with it.

After the police arrived, they directed the truck back to Block 450F, where they commenced their investigations. According to Lianhe Zaobao, the police has classified the case as unnatural death.

Here is a video of SCDF personnel removing the body from the top of the truck, submitted to Lianhe Zaobao by a reader:
