Rabbits abandoned in Yishun & West Coast. Hello, pet abandonment is a crime.

Pets are not rubbish.

Two cases of rabbit abandonment were reported to the authorities in a span of a few days.

The rabbits in both cases were attended to by Bunny Wonderland, a private rabbit welfare group in Singapore.

On March 20, a white rabbit was dumped at the second floor rubbish chute area of 342A Yishun Natura with a few measly carrots.

The rabbit was found in a plastic tub frightened and shivering.

A volunteer brought the rabbit to the vet, where they confirmed him to be an unsterilised male no more than a year old.

Although poorly maintained with tangled fur and long nails, the rabbit was still in decent health.

It was subsequently named Frosty as it had white fur.

But this is not the first case in the week.

On March 20, there was another case of rabbit abandonment at West Coast Park.

Six rabbits were found at a densely forested area away from the cycling path. They were probably transported there in boxes and left in the open.

They were handed over to the SPCA.

According to the post, this is the second case of rabbit abandonment in a day as House Rabbit Society Singapore (HRSS) had rescued another from Pasir Ris Park.

Any persons found guilty of cruelty to animals (including abandonment) may be imprisoned for up to 18 months, fined up to S$15,000, or both.
