Another year has passed.

The first prime minister of Singapore Lee Kuan Yew passed away on March 23, 2015. He was 91.

On the second anniversary of his passing, videos spliced together from archival footage are being released online as tributes.

As another year has passed, one marked difference is that offline tributes this year are relatively muted compared to last year, where numerous events ranging from tree-planting ceremonies to an academic forum were held island-wide across Singapore as a mark of respect to the elder statesman.

For Singaporeans who prefer a more lowkey approach to remember the first prime minister by, these following two videos showing Lee at his fiery prime would most likely suffice.

They show a statesman who held his own on the international stage and was counted as an equal among friends and frenemies even when Singapore was still in its infancy and also as the unwavering leader moulded by circumstance and who wasn't afraid of being judged by his own people.
