How apt.

Singapore, a country that is trying to encourage its citizenry to embrace the perks of public transportation (e.g. less expensive, environmentally-friendly, socialist etc.), has just produced its first electric supercar.

The Dendrobium is designed by local company Vanda Electrics and jointly developed and built with Williams Advanced Engineering.

It is an electric two-seater with four motors powered by Formula E lithium batteries.

And it is making its debut at the Geneva Motor Show from March 9 to 19, which is a test bed for consumer reaction.

For now, The Dendrobium still does not have all the finalised features a production version would, but production can start by 2020.

And when they are produced, it is expected to be in the tens and not the hundreds.

It has a top speed of 320kmh and can go from 0kmh to 100kmh in 2.7 seconds.

The chassis is made from carbon fibre, while the roof and doors open upwards and backwards simultaneously, mimicking the orchid species the car gets its name from.

The retail price is not confirmed, but it will be in the millions.

Hope to see it at the next traffic light soon. And the next. And the next.
