There’s this thing called the Chizza and we are equal parts ravenous and confused

Forget everything you know about pizza. And chicken.

Ramen burgers. Nasi Lemak ice cream. Salted Egg burgers. Stout with beer. You think you’ve seen it all.

That’s where you’re wrong.

After making rounds in the Philippines, India, Japan, Thailand, Taiwan and Korea, the siao langs that brought you the infamous Zinger Double Down are finally bringing pizza with fried chicken crust – the ‘Chizza’ –  to Singapore.  (Yes, we know the name isn’t particularly groundbreaking.)

Now in KFC stores near you

Surprise! My dad is chicken and my mum is pizza.

Confused? Don’t be. The Chizza is essentially a slab of fried chicken with Hawaiian pizza toppings on it. We’re talking pizza sauce, chicken ham, pineapple chunks, mozzarella cheese, and signature KFC cheese sauce.

You don’t have slices, but you can tear pieces of your main slab

Now, we know there are people out there who will argue that ppap-ing our favourite poultry and pizza flavour into a comfort food is a bad idea. But hey, mixed-race marriages, hybrid cars and Yale-NUS all had their detractors once. You never know until you try. And try we did.

Some would argue this is chicken parmesan instead, but there’s no denying the appeal

Look at all that cheese!

So is it more chicken or more pizza? That’s hard to tell when every bite takes us way back in time when we were young dreamers, gazing out of the classroom window and praying for someone to finally put pizza on fried chicken.

Consider this our prayers answered.

The Chizza is now in KFC stores, but only for a limited time. Get it ala carte for $5.10, or have it as a meal at only $7.50 that also comes medium Fries and a regular soft drink.

For those with a ravenous appetite, there is the Chizza Box which comes with a Chizza, a piece of chicken, potato winders, regular whipped potato and a regular soft drink, retailing at $9.50.

This post is brought to you by KFC (bet you didn’t see this coming :>). We’re going to have some Chizza now, bye.
