SAF warrant officer passes away after losing consciousness at Pasir Laba Camp

A 44-year-old SAF warrant officer stationed at Pasir Laba Camp passed away on Friday morning (Feb. 10) after losing consciousness.

In a statement released on Friday evening, the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) identified the regular serviceman as Second Warrant Officer Sim Poh Wah.

As soon as he lost consciousness at 7.53am, efforts were made to resuscitate him, and he was sent to Pasir Laba Camp Medical Centre, followed by Ng Teng Fong General Hospital in an SAF ambulance, where a medical officer and medics continued to attempt to resuscitate him en route.

He was pronounced dead at 9am, 15 minutes after the ambulance arrived at the hospital.

MINDEF and the SAF said they are assisting Sim's family.

A Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) regular serviceman, Second Warrant Officer (2WO) Sim Poh Wah, 44, lost consciousness in Pasir Laba Camp on 10 Feb 2017 at 7.53am. Resuscitative efforts were administered immediately. 2WO Sim was evacuated to Pasir Laba Camp Medical Centre, and subsequently to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH) via an SAF ambulance. An SAF Medical Officer and medics continued to resuscitate him en route. The SAF ambulance arrived at NTFGH at 8.45am. 2WO Sim was pronounced dead at 9.00am.

The Ministry of Defence and the SAF extend their deepest condolences to the family of the late 2WO Sim. The SAF is assisting the family in their time of grief.
