The Singapore Police has issued an advisory on a possible scam involving "Grab / Uber promotional packages".

According to the police, victims were introduced to the cheap "packages" through friends who came across these advertisements by word of mouth.

Victims then contacted the seller via WhatsApp and purchased the packages via bank transfers. After funds were transferred the victims were not able to redeem rides and the seller could not be contacted.

The police have received nine reports from victims and at least $7,700 was cheated.

The police is advising the pubilc to purchase rides only from official sources and "to always exercise caution when purchasing items at prices that sound too good to be true."
