Knowing most Singaporeans, we aren't really known for wearing our hearts on our sleeves.
We tend to close ourselves up in public, and it can take a lot to admit we're vulnerable.
One Singaporean girl decided to go against that notion, though.
Meet Twitter user Nanafarhnh.
On Feb. 2, outside the UNIQLO store at Bugis+, she held up a sign which said: "I had a rough start in life, will you hug me?"
It was all that was needed to bring out kind-hearted Singaporeans, who went over to hug her.
This wasn't just limited to physical hugs too.
When she uploaded the photos onto Twitter, many responded positively, sending words of encouragement and virtual hugs.
It seems that she wasn't alone in doing this as well.
Her friend and fellow Twitter user realjazlina96 also held up a sign with her story.
While it's partially obscured, it can be understood as: "I am insecure about my body, will you hug me?"
And yes, she got all the hugs.
While it might possibly be a social experiment, it's nice to see Singaporeans opening up to one another and wanting to spread a little bit of kindness.
Faith in Singaporeans restored.
