Sometimes, we do things we regret.
We sometimes realise what we did wrong sometime after the fact, either after somebody has given us feedback or after a period of personal reflection.
But once in awhile, we do something so majorly, unequivocally stupid that, well, there's no other way of seeing it.
Enter this unnamed 28-year-old lady who, for some reason, decided it was a good idea to walk around near Orchard Towers looking for an available vehicle to drive between 4 and 5am on Feb 21.
Never mind that it wasn't a car, but a delivery lorry whose driver happened to have stepped out to drop off cartons of drinks.
She tried the door — the second one already — and it opened, so she hopped in and drove off down Orchard Road, crashing into cars, taxis and even a private bus driven by one Edwin Teo, who posted pictures and video of the aftermath:
Thankfully, according to Teo's account, the aggrieved lorry driver was able to catch up with her and his stolen truck. Here's a video of him and a few others giving her a good tongue-lashing:
As you can see, she immediately realised what she had done. And then went to the roadside to sit down and reflect on her actions:
And, of course, the police were called in:
And she was then arrested. A report in The Straits Times said she was allegedly drunk driving. Thankfully, no one was injured from this debacle.
The morals of this story:
1) don't leave your vehicle unlocked, no matter how short a time you spend away from it, and
2) try your best not to do things you know you'll immediately regret.
