Who needs them, amirite.

After being unceremoniously kicked out of the Singapore Table Tennis Association's roll of players, world number six and Singaporean table tennis player Feng Tianwei responded over the weekend in the most epic way possible:

By beating none other than world number one, China's Ding Ning.

Who also happens to be reigning Olympic Champ.

In a post on her public Facebook page, the results were announced with the comment "Good job! Keep on fighting!":

Anyway, here's how the last point of their fifth game went down — they were at two victories each, with two games going above 11 points:

You can hear the Chinese commentators going quiet as soon as Ding serves, and the awe in their tones as they marvel at what just happened.

And of course, here's our girl's moment of sweet, sweet victory:

But she rights herself almost immediately after to shake hands with both Ding and her Chinese coaches:

And look at her club mates — she now plays with a club called Ordos (named after a city in Inner Mongolia), according to The Straits Times — in incredulous shock and joy at her achievement:

Here's the moment again, in a gif, because how often do you see a Singaporean player defeat the World number one:

So now that's out of the way, here's some context: the Chinese Table Tennis Super League is the highest level of league competition in Chinese table tennis.

And since Chinese table tennis players are the best in the world (would anyone really challenge that assertion?), that makes this competition pretty much the highest-level table tennis league competition in the world — ST also says it is reportedly the world's biggest.

So there you go — Feng, now 30, not only defeated Ding, China's and the world's number one table tennis player, she also beat her on home ground, in her biggest home league competition.

Well done, Feng. Keep doin' your thing.

Oh and by the way, she also easily beat another Chinese player, Ding's fellow Beijing club player Li Jiayuan, in straight games. You can watch that match here:
