National water agency PUB said it received reports on the sighting of a creature resembling a crocodile in the Marina Reservoir waters near Sports Hub on Saturday, Nov. 26.

This led to the suspension of water sports activities in the area the whole weekend -- only for PUB to come out on Sunday to say that the creature was most likely a monitor lizard.

Now, after confirming with five different organisations and other experts in the field of animal identification, PUB has lifted all suspensions of water sports in the Marina Reservoir area.

This is because quintuple confirmations by PUB, Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore, National University of Singapore, Animal Concerns Research and Education Society and the Singapore Zoo suggest the creature spotted was most likely a monitor lizard.

Usual water sports activities can continue as per normal as of Nov. 28.
