It's official: the Internet folks cannot live without these 7 affordable Body Shop products

Have you tried these items?

Tsiuwen Yeo | November 09, 2016, 03:58 PM

The Body Shop has a pretty ubiquitous presence in Singapore, but many of us only step into its stores when we run out of Christmas gift ideas, or when we need travel-sized toilet amenities (sad, but true).

Obviously, the stores can’t have survived on business from frantic, clueless, last minute shoppers because there are only so many holiday seasons (fine, unless you count birthdays).

So there must be something that they are doing right. Products that their customers love and return for time and time again. Maybe it’s time for us to try them out too.

We combed the internet -- the deep deep trenches that is consumer review sites* and beauty channels on YouTube to present to you -- 7 Body Shop items that internet folk cannot live without.

*we used MakeupAlley and Ulta, websites dedicated to beauty and skincare product consumers. The sites have a huge and comprehensive review section where members rate and contribute their product experiences.

1. Satsuma Shower Gel

“When I was growing up, my dad used to love this stuff. This stuff smells so good. I really like that it’s kind of a thick gel as well, it lathers nicely." -- YouTuber Fleur DeForce

Consumer rating: 4.4/ 5

TL;DR: Everybody loves this because it. Just. Smells. So. Good. If you’ve been under the impression the The Body Shop products are for women, this shower gel will make you think twice. Why? Because apparently, men love it too. Come on. Who doesn’t love to smell zesty and festive?

2. Vitamin E Face Mist

“The Body Shop Vitamin E [mist] is amazing for adding a hit of moisture, just kind of boosts your skin. You can set makeup with this too but adding it underneath really adds a dewiness.” -- Youtuber Melanie Murphy

Consumer rating: 3.8/ 5

Apparently, this face mist is quite the wonder -- not only does it give you instant refreshment, it also moisturises and sets makeup. The little bottle of goodness is lightly rose scented for that much needed pick-me-up you need after a long meeting or just being out in the sun.

3. Shea Body Butter

“There’s something so nice about [Shea butter], like it’s a nut scent… it’s really pleasant, it’s really nice after a bath.” -- YouTuber Estée Lalonde

Consumer rating: 4.1/ 5

Super luscious and moisturising, the Shea body butter has gained a cult following for its nutty, slightly floral and understated smell. It’s thick but absorbs well; perfect for long days (or nights) in air-conditioned rooms. Because we all looove to be in air-conditioned rooms.

Highly raved for keeping faces shine-free throughout the day, Instablur also blurs (duh) visible pores and makes sure that your foundation stay on. This product primes your face, blurring lines out to keep you looking sharp and ready to slay.

“This one smells really really good as well.” -- YouTuber Anne Acacia

People who swear by this hand cream love how it heals their skin, making their hands soft like a baby’s and their nails healthy. It supposedly injects almond-y life back into your skin. Now how wicked is that.

“This is literally, like I remember this smell from my childhood. This smells so nice, I really like it. It smells really like clean and fresh." -- YouTuber LorenShannon5

Consumer rating: 3.8/ 5

An Eau De Toilette is perfect for the summer, and it’s always summer in Singapore. That’s only one reason why netizens love this scent -- the other reason is that everyone loves to smell clean and freshly showered, and this EDT does exactly that. Hmmmmm.

7. Drops of Youth

via via

“If you want your skin to look radiant, or if you have acne scars and want to shorten the recovery period, I highly recommend this serum.” -- Actress Kate Pang

Consumer rating: 3.1/ 5

Previously known as Nutriganics Drops of Youth, an improved formula of this serum was introduced early this year. Users say that it not only hydrates thirsty skin, but also works to plump out lines and give a radiant glow (so you can also look like Kate Pang). Certainly seems lives up to its elixir sounding name.

Presents time!

Intrigued? Well, if the only times you’ve been to The Body Shop is because you’ve run out of Christmas gift ideas, just remember -- you don’t have to buy gifts for the sake of it.

Consider some of these cult favourites and if you love them, so will your friends. Because everyone wants to look and smell good during Christmas.

Even though these are great products, we admit that when wrapped up, a bottle of face mist can look quite insignificant and embarrassing at a Christmas event… which is why it is EVEN better that some of these items are available in gift sets (that are pre-wrapped) woooo.

Vitamin E Skincare collection, $55 (contents worth over $76)
