It was beautiful.

So on Wednesday night, most of Singapore, despite being very particular and knowledgeable about good food, realised for the first time that there is such a thing as the Culinary Olympics.

Chiefly because the team from Singapore clinched the overall gold medal at the event, after winning double golds in the hot cooking and cold display segments of the competition (we'll tell you more about that later).

This was a first-time victory for Singapore, which beat more than 30 other participating countries, and surely the sweetest one for the six-man team, all of whom have represented and won accolades at previous international competitions before.

And it shows.

Here's a video of the moment the overall Olympic champion team was announced:

Sure makes us wish we were there to celebrate with them.

The team — manager Louis Tay, captain Teo Yeow Siang, and team members Triston Fang, Alan Wong, Roy Lim and Alex Chong, will be returning home from Erfurt in Germany, where the competition took place, on Friday at 6:50am.

Congratulations on winning Singapore another Olympic Gold, guys!
