Roads.sg, a Facebook page for road users, recently uploaded a post of a e-scooter rider who had gotten his e-scooter towed away by an LTA officer.

He had apparently been riding his scooter across a zebra crossing at the junction of Yishun Ave 2 and Ave 3.

He was going to meet some friends, but was stopped by 2 LTA officers.

The officers eventually decided to tow the scooter away.

Here is the scooter being towed away.

The E-Scooter rider was not happy with the decision.

He even pointed to all the other E-Scooters that were speeding by on the road.

He was so angry that he filed a police report to express his dismay with the officers.

Here is his report.

Legal issues

The crux of the confiscation seems to lie in the rider's right to cross the Zebra crossing, while on his scooter.

While the Road Traffic Act does not explicitly mention the validity of using a scooter on a zebra crossing, the general interpretation is that the crossing is for pedestrians only.

Which means even cyclists would need to push the bicycle across the crossing instead of riding through it.

A point the E-Scooter rider apparently disagreed with, as he stated in his post.

What is the wrong when i am not on the road and with hemlet on and light ? And tow away my scooter without permission.just to know is there law in Singapore! WTF

Shocking.
