Along a secluded road somewhere in Singapore, are a bunch of e-bike racers having a go at burning rubber in the dead of night:

Despite the night scene, this short snippet of the exhilarating race showed quite well how personal mobility devices are easily affordable, highly-modifiable and packed with torque these days.

It used to be that you had to have some money to properly afford a set of wheels, be it a motorcycle or a car.

But without having to acquire a license in the first place to operate a PMD on the road, suddenly, there is very precious little to lose.

Now, everyone can play pretend. And with potentially fatal consequences.

Just a few days ago, a person who clearly has a death wish was caught on video riding a personal PMD along Upper Aljunied Road on Oct. 14, at about 1pm, according to the time stamp on the footage.
