Calling all Pikachu & Super Mario fans, Nintendo has a treat for you

Just. Look. At. That. Moustache.

Sure, the whole Pokémon Go craze might have died down some weeks ago, but Pokémon fans will be Pokémon fans.

Why do we say so? Just look at the number of tourists who visit the Pokémon centres all across Japan.

We're willing to say (with some confidence) that 70 percent of all Singaporeans who visit Japan have been to a Pokémon centre at least once.

And then there's the other iconic Japanese character that everyone knows:

So popular that Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe got into Super Mario costume at the Rio 2016 closing ceremony to introduce Tokyo 2020 to the world.

But sorry, Shinzo Abe, as convincing as you were in costume -- someone (or thing?) has ousted you from the top spot as the best dressed in a Super Mario costume.

We bet you already know what's coming.

This is possibly the cutest thing you will see today:

That's right, it's Pikachu in a freaking Mario suit. With a moustache. *screams internally*

That moustache!!

Named Mario Pikachu and Luigi Pikachu, the merchandise will be available in all Pokémon centres across Japan from Oct. 29 onwards.

Translated from Japanese: "Mario Pikachu when compared to the original (Super Mario Brothers). This is wonderful."

Look at that little mushroom Mario Pikachu is clutching. If that's not adorable, we don't know what is.

Part of the new line of products called "Mario Pikachu", other merchandise available are the Pokémon XY break card game, card holders, Nintendo 3DS LL covers and Japanese card game hanafuda.

And if you happen to be at the Pokémon centre in Kyoto (or if your friends are there), exclusive items from the Mario Pikachu line there include A4 files, poker cards, T-shirts, keychains and notebooks.

These super cute items are pretty affordable too -- a Mario Pikachu soft toy will only set you back about S$25. That's a fraction of the price for a Snorlax, even if it's not life-sized.

Needless to say, there will probably be hordes of people queueing up for the merchandise, but given Singaporeans' love for Pokémon characters, that's not likely to stop us from getting our hands on that cuteness.
