These minifigs of Yip Pin Xiu and Theresa Goh by Lego are awesome

Nice.

(Editor’s note: A previous version of this article inaccurately stated that Lego Singapore released actual mini-figurines of Yip and Goh. Lego Singapore has confirmed that these are only graphic representations and are not available for sale)

Yip Pin Xiu - that name might ring a bell.

Yep, she's the star swimmer who set not one but two world records during her race in the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games 100m backstroke S2 event, earning her her second gold medal at the Paralympics. Her first gold medal was at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games.

Yip's fellow Singaporean swimmer, Theresa Goh, also added to Singapore's Rio medal tally when she scored a bronze medal in the women's 100m breaststroke SB4 final.

As a tribute, Lego Singapore released a photo of mini figurines done in the likeness of Yip and Goh, complete with matching gold and bronze medals.

Comments on the picture were very positive. Goh even gave her stamp of approval.

Lego previously paid tribute to gold medalist Joseph Schooling when he earned Singapore's first gold medal at the Olympic Games with a Lego build of his 100m butterfly race timing.

Having minifigs as tributes is a wonderful way of acknowledging the hard work our para-athletes put in. Their talent and drive shine even brighter in the face of their disabilities. These qualities they possess are worth celebrating and Lego is showing us the right way of doing it.
