World's first Michelin-starred ramen to arrive in Singapore in October 2016

Let the Michelin craze start again.

Come October, Singaporeans will have one more place to add to their list of must-try Michelin-starred restaurants.

The world's first-ever Michelin-starred ramen restaurant, Tsuta Ramen, will be opening a store here. It will be the restaurant's first (but definitely not last) overseas venture.

Hailing from Sugamo, Tokyo, the restaurant received a coveted Michelin star in December 2015, and has since caused a huge stir in the international culinary scene.

Touted as the best ramen in northern Tokyo, it is the first ever ramen restaurant in the world to be awarded a Michelin star.

Tsuta's speciality is ramen-style soba noodles, which are made with four types of whole wheat flour.

Another reason why their ramen is so popular is because of the premium ingredients they use -- the shio ramen broth is a blend of chicken and seafood, infused with rock salt, red wine and rosemary; each bowl of their signature shoyu ramen is served with black truffle sauce.

If this supposedly perfect ramen can satisfy the picky discerning taste-buds of Michelin inspectors, it'll probably satisfy yours too.

Singapore was chosen as the location for Tsuta's first overseas venture because a restaurant owner in Singapore had travelled to Japan and stood in line at the restaurant, just to have a taste of the ramen.

That gesture alone moved owner Yuki Onishi, who said that other interested business partners had not done so.

While the original outlet in Tokyo only seats nine people and serves a limited 150 bowls of ramen a day, the outlet in Singapore will seat 18 people. It is not known if there will be a limit to the number of bowls available each day.

Another testament to how in demand these noodles are -- the Michelin-star ramen was recently made available in convenience stores across Japan.

But in case you think the award-winning ramen will be crazy expensive, it might not be. A bowl goes for approximately S$14 in Japan -- so hopefully, it will be as affordable in Singapore.

We can already imagine the long line of people at Pacific Plaza, Orchard road, where the restaurant will be located.
