SBS Transit bus captain had been noticing how passengers tend to get drenched while entering his bus during rainy periods.

According to a Lianhe Wanbao report, the driver, Kamarul, was worried this would result in them getting sick.

So, two months ago, he decided to do something about it.

The 29-year-old man now brings his own umbrella along on his drive.

Whenever there is a heavy rain, he will get out of his seat during one of the stops, hold the umbrella, stand in between the bus stop and the bus to shield his passengers from the rain.

Motherly advice

Kamarul attributes his kindness to words of wisdom his mother told him when he first took up the conductor job nine months ago.

This is what she told him:

"You must be patient to your passengers, if there is something you can help with, you must help."

He has definitely taken that advice into heart, stating that :

"Just by helping a little bit, my passengers will be better off, so why not do it?"

He also acknowledged the extra time it might take to help out passengers, but maintains that it is definitely worth it.

Rewards

For his incredible attitude and kindness, Kamarul was rightfully rewarded.

Songhe, a canola oil brand, donated 500kg of rice and 60 liters of canola oil to his preferred charity (Muslim Missionary Society Homes) under his name.

Thumbs up man!
