S'porean youths speaking Mandarin terribly is something we can all relate to

How terrible is your Mandarin-speaking skills? If it is truly terrible, don't worry, here's a video to make you feel right at home.

A bunch of Chinese Singaporean youths were made to sit down and attempt to form sentences using a few Chinese idioms they barely know and the result is hilarious as they attempt to form something remotely coherent.

If anything, this video shows that the bilingual policy in Singapore works to a certain extent, but it will also convince you that there is perhaps a need to re-look it to see how much better can the Chinese language be taught in schools for it to be better applied in real life.

Because it is possible to highly fluent in conversational Mandarin within two years of picking it up.
