Malaysia's national shuttler, Lee Chong Wei, has once again missed out on a gold medal after battling it out in the badminton men's singles final.
His opponent, China's Chen Long, defeated Lee with a score of 21-18, 21-18 to secure his top spot in the badminton men’s singles.
Lee’s attempt for Malaysia’s first gold at the last two Olympic finals were hampered by China’s Lin Dan, who became the first man to successfully defend his gold medal at the London Olympic games.
This is Chen's second time partaking in the Olympic games. He won a bronze medal in the 2012 London Olympics, alongside silver medalist Lee and gold medalist Lin.
This is likely to be Lee's last Olympics as he plans to retire after the games.
